"According to a Daily NK source, the North Korean authorities have initiated a 'cleanup operation' targeting people who conduct business on streets and are taking them to forced labor camps.
Law enforcement authorities appear to be choosing to arrest street vendors and rickshaw drivers because of their vulnerable social status ... Forced labor camps typically house prisoners serving sentences between six months and one years, along with those sentenced by prosecutor’s offices to perform labor for up to six months. However, the authorities are reportedly not following these legal procedures.
'The street vendors and rickshaw drivers are the ones with the most difficult lives,' the source said. 'If you tell people to blindly report to a workplace where they get zero rations or money, what are they supposed to eat? The authorities are just sending people to their death'" (Daily NK).
Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the Lord?
There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
You would shame the plans of the poor, but the Lord is his refuge.
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. Psalm 14:4-7
Father God, we pray that you restore the fortunes of Your people in North Korea; save them and be a refuge to them! Bring the terror of retribution upon the evildoers of North Korea who eat up people as they eat bread and do not call upon the name of the Lord. How much longer, O Lord? Will you forget Your people forever? How long will you hide your face from them? (Psalm 13:1). Break down the walls of North Korea so that the darkness flees, and shed Your light upon every corner of this country! In Jesus' name, Amen.
