The King Is Not Saved by His Great Army

According to Chosun Media, nearly 16% of the North Korean government's budget is allocated to the military. Despite the North Korean government's recognition of major economic failure going into 2021, specifically the failure of their five-year economic plan, they continue to sustain their aggressive military and nuclear weapons schemes.

"North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has fired six of eight vice premiers in charge of the economy and 21 of 45 minister-level officials ... The sacked officials apparently had to take the fall for the failure of the last five-year economic plan..." (Chosun Media)

The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and its great might it cannot rescue.Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine." Psalm 33:16-19

Father God, we know that North Korea cannot be preserved or saved by their military might. As we see, North Korean's lust for power is destroying the very people that power is supposed to protect. But we know that men who worship the created world (Romans 1:25) -- attempting to make themselves god -- become beasts themselves, men who cannot see and cannot hear. Lord, you see all that the righteous and wicked do, and your eyes are on those who fear You in North Korea. We pray that the gospel would spread to every corner of North Korea, delivering many souls from death, and that the power of Your Word and promises would keep Your people alive in famine through the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
