It is reported that North Korea is preparing for a grand celebration, with large anniversaries overlapping one after another: the 110th year of the birth of Kim Il-sung, the 80th year of the birth of Kim Jong-il, and the 10th year of the official inauguration of the Kim Jong-un regime. Daily NK stated, “The Party Central Committee recently issued instructions to designate the period from February 16 to April 25 as ‘the nation’s greatest celebration period’. It is the first time since 1992 that the duration of the celebration is set to be around two months. This is being interpreted as an intention to confirm the legitimacy of the hereditary succession and to strengthen the people's loyalty.
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death. Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.” Psalm 68:19-21
God, our Savior, North Korea is mobilizing large-scale political events to enforce loyalty to the regime rather than implementing policies for its residents who are struggling with economic difficulties. Please direct the hearts and eyes of the people toward you, Lord, so that they may realize the grace of redemption from sin and death. For this, we pray that the word of God will be continuously delivered into North Korea so that all the people may come to worship God.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
