“The family of the person being executed was seated in the front row and forced to watch the whole process.” “A father fainted when he saw his son’s body being burned.” “More than 10 people are being executed at a time.” The International Human Rights Organization for Transitional Justice Working Group (TJWG) has released new testimonies of defectors who have reported extensive public executions in North Korea since the ruling of Kim Jong-un. In order to prevent the leak of public execution news to the outside world and to make international surveillance difficult, North Korea has carried out executions at airfields away from the border and its surrounding hills, mountain slopes, and fields. Also, possession of mobile phones at the scene is being strictly controlled. We pray that the kingdom of God will be more witnessed in North Korea through the faith of the saints who do not yield in the face of death.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
Lord, we praise you for protecting the North Korean believers despite the severe persecution of Christians. Although the North Korean authorities incite fear through the extreme method of public execution, we pray that the believers will stand stronger and bolder because of you, who protects the souls of the saints. When those who do not believe see the faith of the saints, who are not afraid of death, may they ask of their reason of hope. Thus, may your kingdom be witnessed. We also pray that you rebuke the North Korean leaders for their evil deeds and may they experience your grace of returning back to you through repentance.
