“There is someone who loves you. The gratitude you feel should not be directed to me, but to the One who gave me the heart to reach out to you.” These are the words of a person who, without expecting anything in return, bought a warm meal and handed money for the trip home to a mother and daughter who had lost their goods and were stranded on the streets in North Korea. Upon hearing this, some residents whispered, “Those are not ordinary words. That must be the One whom religion speaks of.” This is a recent heartwarming story from North Korea, reported by Daily NK. We pray that through the lives of believers, who bear witness to God's love and the Gospel by living distinct and holy lives, God's kingdom and will may be fulfilled in North Korea.
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him.”
1 John 3:16–19
We praise God who is spreading the gospel throughout North Korea and raising faithful witnesses who live out the Word they have received. We bless the believers in North Korea who willingly open their hands to help others even in their own poverty. Lord, help us to hope more deeply in Your kingdom and to rely on Your promises. May opportunities to share resources become opportunities to share the Love and Gospel of the Lord, so that countless souls will come to know You, and Your kingdom and will may be fulfilled among that land and its people.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
