North Koreans Drinking from Polluted Streams

In some areas of North Korea, springs have dried up due to the winter drought. Therefore people are suffering from the lack of drinking water. As the spring water started to decrease several years ago, people have started drinking from streams or rivers. Residents know that the stream is polluted and unsuitable for drinking, but there is no special measure in rural areas where there is no water supply infrastructure. Although water brought from streams is left for a day before being boiled and drunk, the number of patients with colitis or diarrhea is rapidly increasing among the residents. We pray for the North Koreans who need clean drinking water.

“Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14

Lord, we lift to you the situation of North Koreans who have no other choice but to drink polluted stream water. Please have mercy on those who are suffering from chronic water-borne diseases because of the lack of clean water. Through the miserable reality of not having water to drink, we pray that they will look to the Lord who gives the spring of water that will never make them thirst again.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
