[Prayer] Grant Freedom to the Captives and Release to those in Prison

A report from the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB) revealed that when China arrests North Korean defectors, they are detained in camps with harsh conditions and subjected to physical abuse. “Women separated from their newborns immediately after giving birth were beaten with electric batons when they banged on the bars, pleading to be released,” “Officials were ordered to ‘hit where it won’t be visible,’ leaving dark bruises on backs and thighs,” “They were sometimes denied food for three days, or given a mixture of leftovers,” and “A rubber basin was placed in the corner of the detention cell for them to relieve themselves, and when it was full, it was thrown out.” Such testimonies from North Korean defectors continued.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Luke 4:18-19

We lift up those imprisoned in camps in China and North Korea and pray. Lord, who proclaims freedom to the captives and release to the prisoners, please put an end to the forced repatriation and human rights abuses against the North Korean people. Preserve the lives of those suffering under severe oppression, and through those among the prisoners who have already believed, may the Gospel be proclaimed even within the prisons. Pour out Your grace so that they may endure their suffering in faith.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
