[Prayer] Let Us Be Prepared for a Sudden Shift in North Korea

North Korea has already become a refugee camp for over 40 years. In such conditions, any sign of internal instability or external shock could lead to a massive refugee crisis. Countless North Koreans could flood across the land border at the DMZ or take to the sea. We must pray that the South Korean Church is spiritually and physically prepared to receive them in times of such disaster.
“For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”
1 Thessalonians 5:2–3
We lift up the possibility of massive refugee flows during a sudden upheaval in North Korea, as described in the Bible. Lord, who has not given up on North Korea and who hears the cries of her people, please open the doors of the North and allow movement of people to take place in an orderly way, not in uncontrollable chaos. May the vast minefields of the DMZ be cleared in advance, and may the routes through China, Russia, and the sea to Japan be protected by Your hand, so that no innocent blood is shed. Above all, may the Gospel be the first thing heard by the refugees, through the mighty power of the God of peace.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
