For the past 40 years, Cornerstone Ministries has been delivering Bibles to North Korea. Recognizing that North Korean believers struggle to read and understand the standard Korean Bible, the ministry began translating the Scriptures into the North Korean dialect. The New Testament was published in 2007, the complete Bible (Old and New Testaments) in 2016, and the South-North Parallel Bible—which allows readers to compare both dialects side by side—was released in 2021. Through these efforts, we are preparing to send one Bible to each of the 5.9 million households in North Korea (based on 2014 Statistics Korea data). By delivering the Bible in their own language, we seek to strengthen their faith and minimize future confusion in churches due to language differences.
As written in the North Korean version of Hebrews 4:12–13:
"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
Lord, may Your life-giving and powerful Word be sent throughout North Korea.
We especially pray for the restoration of North Korea through the Gospel. Help us to be ready to deliver one copy of the North Korean Bible and the South-North Parallel Bible to each of the 5.9 million households. Until the day You restore North Korea, may we diligently continue to deliver Bibles to the North.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
