[Prayer] May Bibles be delivered into the hands of believers in North Korea, and be read among them.

“Even after decades of isolation, faith has continued in North Korea through hand-copied Scriptures from old Bibles distributed before and after liberation. Despite the risk of being discovered, underground believers have painstakingly copied the Bible by hand onto small pieces of paper, hiding them and exchanging them secretly when they meet.” These are the words of Professor Chang-Ho Lim of Kosin University, who presented hand-copied “manuscript Bibles” at the World Conference on North Korean Human Rights. These handwritten copies contain not only books of the Bible (such as Titus) but also hymn lyrics and responsive reading versicle, giving us a glimpse into how North Korean underground believers worship. We pray that more Bibles will be sent into North Korea so that believers may stand firm upon the Word.

“And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”

Acts 20:32

We entrust to You the underground believers of North Korea, who secretly copy the Scriptures by hand to keep their faith. Lord, pour out Your grace so that Bibles may be delivered to North Korean believers who wait for Your Word, and so that these Bibles may be placed into their hands and read among them. Establish them firmly upon the Word so that they may receive the inheritance of faith. O God, who upholds the underground church in North Korea with unending love, protect and strengthen the believers as they worship and share the gospel. Make them a pure and holy community of faith that pleases You.
