“There is an underground church of 15 people in a certain region. Do you know what their primary prayer request is? It is: ‘Please let the day come when we can worship with a proper Bible.’ Whenever we have rare phone calls to avoid surveillance, I tell the church leader to bring a pencil. I read out verses like John 14:1 ‘Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me’ and he writes them down to use for Sunday service. I can't describe how much he envies me for having a Bible.” This is a heartbreaking report from a North Korean defector. We pray that God’s Word will be delivered to the North Korean believers swiftly.
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble.”
Philippians 4:11-14.
We lift up the North Korean underground church, which is suffering from a spiritual famine of the Word. May those who long for Your Word hold onto this promise from Philippians. May the Holy Spirit personally teach and guide them, allowing them to enjoy Your grace in their daily lives. Above all, we pray that the Bibles they need to keep their faith will be sent to them, so that the North Korean church and its believers may be comforted and filled with Your truth and life.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!
