North Korea opened the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Area on the 1st. However, with the daily usage fee reportedly starting at $100, the site is seen as unattainable for ordinary citizens. Most North Koreans live hand-to-mouth, and considering that factory workers earn about 30,000–40,000 won (about 1 USD) per month, they would need to save more than 8 years’ worth of wages just to stay at the hotel for a single night.
We pray for the spiritual and physical liberation of the North Korean people who are suffering in hunger and exploitation, unable to even dream of tourism. May the Wonsan-Kalma tourist zone be used as a channel for the spreading of the Gospel.
"I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice."
Ezekiel 34:15–16
Lord God, you declared in Ezekiel 34:15–16. Though the Wonsan-Kalma zone has finally opened after 11 years since its announcement, it remains a distant dream for most North Koreans, who struggle to survive day by day. Break down North Korea's idolatry, dictatorship, and Juche ideology that have exalted themselves against You. Let reunification through the Gospel come swiftly, so that the North Korean people may live free from exploitation. Let this tourist area also become a tool and opportunity for sowing the seeds of the Gospel in North Korea.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
