“At the beginning of this month, safety agents and inspection teams appeared not only inside the marketplace but also in surrounding alleys and streets, intensifying the crackdown on rice trading. As a result, both those trying to sell rice and those trying to buy it are crying out in distress. Currently, North Korea is mandating that food like rice be purchased at state-run grain stations rather than in the markets. Residents complain, saying, ‘It’s not even something the state is giving us for free, so why do they stop us from selling rice in the marketplace? The rice from grain stores is poor quality, and the scales are inaccurate. At this rate, we will truly die.’” reported Daily NK.
The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. But with an overflowing flood he will make a complete end of the adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
Nahum 1:7-8
We intercede for the North Korean people suffering under this rice regulation. Please have mercy on the merchants who survive day by day selling rice and the residents who cannot buy proper rice. May the unreasonable regulations that aggravate the hardships of life in the difficult winter season be lifted. Open ways for necessary help, food, and God's Word to be delivered to them so that they may receive the grace of salvation for both body and soul.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!
