[Prayer] Praising God Who Has Granted the History of Revival

In 1816, the first English Bible was delivered to the Korean Peninsula—then a land of darkness—by British Captains Maxwell and Basil Hall. Later, in 1886, Pastor Thomas delivered the Bible along the banks of the Taedong River. On April 5, 1885, missionaries Underwood and Appenzeller entered Korea through Jemulpo, leading to the founding worship service of Saemunan Church in 1887. In 1903, a wave of repentance began with Missionary Hardie, who was serving in Wonsan, and it spread across the nation, ultimately sparking the Great Pyongyang Revival Movement.

“Surely your waste and your desolate places and your devastated land—surely now you will be too narrow for your inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away,”

Isaiah 49:19

We give glory to God, who sent the Bible and missionaries to this Korean Peninsula once filled with idolatry so that many common people might believe in God and enjoy the blessing of tasting and knowing His goodness. We also praise our good God, who established the foundation of the church on this land and brought about an explosive wave of the Great Pyongyang Revival. We exalt and worship the great and wonderful God who turned the hearts of the Korean people oppressed and suffering under Japanese aggression toward Him, and brought revival to every corner of the nation by establishing His churches and restoring worship in individuals, families, villages, and cities.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
