[Prayer] Turn from a Life of Chasing the World and Serve God

Unlike the North Korean People's Army, which is open to most people without major health issues, the Ministry of Social Security (Security Forces, combat police) enforces a strict background check from the very start of the recruitment process. Even if an individual is eager to join, those with family members who defected to the South or families that have not joined the Party are automatically disqualified. Because the entry barriers are high and the number of recruits is small, fierce competition for bribes erupts every year. In fact, it is reported that for this recruitment process, two 170kg drums of gasoline (a massive sum equivalent to 700 kg of rice) and a whole pig were offered as bribes.” This is according to a report by Daily NK.

"to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness."

Ephesians 4:22–24

We lift up the North Korean youth, who are thirsty for success, honor, and money. May they cast off their old selves which, deceived by the North Korean regime’s false propaganda, are decaying as they follow the temptations of greed and cling to outdated customs and put on the new self, created in God’s righteousness and the holiness of truth. May You lead them with the instructions of Your Word to turn from a life of chasing worldly idols and instead serve You as their God.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
