Since the division of the Korean Peninsula in 1945, North Korea has relentlessly killed, tortured, and persecuted those who speak or act against the cult of leadership and communist ideology. It has run five political prison camps, over 200 detention centers and labor training camps, 23 reform through labour camps, five reeducation through labour camps, and 27 provincial holding facilities where countless acts of torture, public executions, beatings, and forced labor have taken place. Through these, the regime has oppressed the people with fear and terror. We repent and intercede for these sins of North Korea.
“Thus says the Lord God: Enough, O princes of Israel! Put away violence and oppression, and execute justice and righteousness. Cease your evictions of my people, declares the Lord God.”
Ezekiel 45:9
Lord, You commanded justice and righteousness, yet North Korea has killed, oppressed, and persecuted precious people made in Your image. We repent on their behalf. They have taken away the free will You gave, silencing thought and expression, forbidding free travel, and depriving people of the right to choose where they live—controlling and monitoring them. In the name of Jesus Christ, we repent and ask for forgiveness. On behalf of them, we also repent of the sin of persecuting and forcibly repatriating those who escaped from North Korea due to hunger and hardship. Please forgive in Jesus’ name.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
