“Track Down the Defectors, No Matter the Cost”

A family of four living in Yanggang Province, North Korea, crossed the Yalu River and escaped to China. According to the Daily NK report, the family chose to escape on the day the border guard division commander (sergeant) they were close with was working. They gave him a soda and bread mixed with sleeping pills and crossed the river while he was asleep. The family who defected used to make a living by smuggling, but when the barriers and high-voltage lines were recently installed in the border area, they claimed, "If we can't smuggle in the future, we can't live like humans." Kim Jong-un, who was informed of the incident, has personally issued to “catch the traitors and strongly punish them to set an example, no matter the cost.” We pray that North Koreans will be freed from oppression and will be able to worship God freely.

“Can plunder be taken from warriors, or captives be rescued from the fierce? But this is what the Lord says: “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.” Isaiah 49:24-25

Lord, we lift up to you North Koreans who risk their lives to defect. We pray that you remember their desperate situation. Please stop the evil deeds of mercilessly suppressing and blocking the people who have no choice but to escape due to the serious hardships of life, and eventually making them do nothing but starve to death. Please deliver the poor North Koreans from the hands of the North Korean authorities who sacrifice the common people to protect the mere appearance of the system. We pray that they will be freed from oppression and will be able to worship God freely.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
