North Korea hit by COVID-19, heavy rain, and economic hardship.

North Korea's state-run broadcaster announced, "it will rain more than 500 mm in most areas from the night of the Aug 3rd to the morning of the Aug 6th", issuing 'red alerts' in some areas. This heavy rain can affect crops as the typhoon "Ling-ling" did last year, causing food shortages. Experts point out that North Korea has been hit hard by triple whammy, with concerns over the spread of COVID-19 and heavy rains during the severe economic crisis. North Korea is currently operating a "maximum emergency system" to tighten up on preventing the COVID-19 epidemics. At the same time, the amount of trade has plummeted since the border was closed.

We pray North Korea will quickly realize God's will speaking through the situation and turn to God's great mercy.

This North Korea's miserable situation reminds of Hosea 2:5-6.

"Their mother has been unfaithful and has conceived them in disgrace.

She said, 'I will go after my lovers, who give me my food and my water, my wool and my linen, my olive oil, and my drink.'

Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes; I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way."

North Korea's economy is getting worse, with the spread of COVID-19 and other growing infectious diseases, experiencing at the same time record-high rainfall that can lead to year-round farming failure. Lord, help beleaguered North Korea avoid making the mistake of struggling to get through the thorn bush, and crossing the wall anymore.

We pray that North Korea can find God's goodwill through the obstacles Lord has blocked and realize their faults for turning to You.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
