[Prayer] May all idolizing images that exalt the Kim family vanish from every corner of North Korea.

Mosaic murals are one of the main tools used to idolize the Kim family. The first mural featuring Kim Jong-un was seen at the inauguration of the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm in October 2022. Recently, a new mosaic mural has been erected in front of the Kim Jong-suk Pyongyang Textile Factory, displaying Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-un, and Kim Jong-il in that order, drawing attention. During Kim Jong-il’s rule, murals or portraits featuring both Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il together were rare, and never included a living leader. Now, placing Kim Jong-un at the center, alongside his predecessors, suggests a shift in legitimizing power—not through lineage, but through “great achievements.”
“You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God. You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 26:1–2
O Lord, who declared these words, we pray that all idolizing images—murals, portraits, statues, and towers—exalting the Kim family across North Korea will vanish and disappear without a trace. Have mercy, so that the 25 million people of North Korea may no longer be forced to bow to idols, but may freely worship and serve the one true God.
In Jesus Christ’s name. Amen!
